Natural Variation of OsHd8 Regulates Heading Date in Rice

نویسندگان

چکیده

Heading date, as one of the most important agronomic traits, is a fundamental factor determining crop yield. Although diverse genes related to heading date have already been reported in rice, key gene that regulates still poorly understood. Here, we identified regulator, 8 (OsHd8), which promoted under long-day conditions and encoded putative HAP3 subunit CCAAT-box-binding transcription factor. It localized nucleus expressed various tissues. Sequence analysis revealed there were four SNPs InDel promoter region OsHd8, was involved regulation some floral regulators including GHD7.1, SDG718, OsGI HDT1. Further evolutionary showed OsHd8 presents divergence between indica japonica, showing natural selection during domestication cultivated rice. These results indicate plays an role may be target for rice breeding programs.

Importance of QTL Mapping for Heading Date in Rice

Heading date in rice is one of the most important indices in rice breeding being governed by multiple genes known as quantitative trait loci (QTLs). This character along with grain yield determines the commercial potential of any rice cultivar. In the last three decades the development of DNA markers have led to the precise analysis of QTLs. Various mapping populations are being used to explore...

Flowering Time Genes Heading date 1 and Early heading date 1 Together Control Panicle Development in Rice

Although flowering time is often associated with plant size, little is known about how flowering time genes affect plant architecture. We grew four rice lines having different flowering time genotypes (hd1 ehd1, hd1 Ehd1, Hd1 ehd1 and Hd1 Ehd1) under distinct photoperiod conditions. By using genotype-treatment combinations that resulted in similar flowering times, we were able to compare the ef...

Variation in heading date conceals quantitative trait loci for other traits of importance in breeding selection of rice

To identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with the primary target traits for selection in practical rice breeding programs, backcross inbred lines (BILs) derived from crosses between temperate japonica rice cultivars Nipponbare and Koshihikari were evaluated for 50 agronomic traits at six experimental fields located throughout Japan. Thirty-three of the 50 traits were significantly ...

Identification of major and minor genes associated with heading date in an indica × indica cross of rice (Oryza Sativa L.)

In this study, quantitative trait loci (QTLs) controlling rice heading date were detected in a F2:3 population derived from a cross between an indica rice variety, Tarom Mahalli, with early heading date, and an indica variety, Khazar, with late heading date. SSR linkage map was constructed using 74 polymorphic markers and 192 F2 individuals and covered a total of 1231.50 cM of rice genome. QTL ...

The Rice HGW Gene Encodes a Ubiquitin-Associated (UBA) Domain Protein That Regulates Heading Date and Grain Weight

Heading date and grain weight are two determining agronomic traits of crop yield. To date, molecular factors controlling both heading date and grain weight have not been identified. Here we report the isolation of a hemizygous mutation, heading and grain weight (hgw), which delays heading and reduces grain weight in rice. Analysis of hgw mutant phenotypes indicate that the hemizygous hgw mutati...
